Howdy all,
I have 8 Japanese maples that are in pots on my deck. I have three that are doing poorly. I know they are getting plenty of water, and we have a good amount of shade.
Two did not bud well this spring. Tree A is like you could take the tree and cut it in half vertically, where one side seems fine, and the opposite side seems dead. No new growth at all. The other maple-B, if you look at it, the top three quarters is dead and the bottom quarter is leafing out okay. These maples are both weeping lace leafs. A is about three feet tall and B is about two feet tall.
The other maple I have is bloodgood. It started out budding fine this year, and all of a sudden it has come to a halt and the leaves are starting to shrivel. This plant is about three feet tall.
What is going on here? Drainage is good. I have never cut back the roots, Could it be insects in the soil? All my other plants seem to be doing great. I don't understand what is going on.
Thanks for y'all's input,
PJ
