I am looking for information on Coreopsis Star Cluster.
I have been under the impression that colors of coreopsis other than yellows, are fragile and dont perform more than one or two seasons.
I grew the pink one ,I think it was Sweet Dreams.
I try to find plants with a zone in the middle of the requirement given,in other words I am suspicious of a plant that starts with Z5 when I am in Z6.

Has anyone had experience with this plant in Z5-6?

Sorry, but I have no experience with this particular Coreopsis, but I have grown several that are not yellow. One was a pink one, and although perennial, it did not come back for me the second year, and I have tried one or two others that were not yellow, with no reappearance. I grow one that is yellow but with a deep red center, and it's been around for years. I am always amazed to see it. As for zones, I live in Zone 6b, and I often try plants that are a zone removed from what is specified, and I usually have very good luck. If you look around at different nurseries selling plants, their descriptions for the same plants often list different zones, and it's confusing, to say the least. I like to find out for myself, so I grow plants that are not recommended and grow them sometimes in shade when a spot in the sun is not available, etc. That's what makes gardening interesting, and that's how I learn.

It just made me curious as to weather the color was what made a more resilient plant or not.
I agree the zone thing is confusing.
I am in Z6a and if there is only one
zone listed I assume I am O K.
I also check a Plant File to get a full zone registration aka z 4-9.

Lets face it all gardening is a degree of gamble.

Star Cluster is beautiful, I have been wanting one too. I learned it is hardy to zone 4a.
Lazy S'S Farm & Nursery has it. Green Grin!

I bought "Center Stage" from Santa Rosa last fall, so I can't speak for it's longevity yet.

Mine was more pink than their picture, but it really was covered in flowers all summer with no attention, no cutting back.

Mine might have been lighter because of our drought, terribly hot summer, and unrelenting hot burning sun.

I like the fact that it looks good all summer with no maintenance.

I got an email from Santa Rosa today. They're having their fall sale. I don't know if it's entire inventory, but their fall sale is usually a good one.

OOOPS Santa Rosa just notified me no Star Cluster til spring. I canceled that part of the order.
I have GoogledShow Stopper and Center Stage both have the same picture and are almost impossible to tell apart unless the description is read.
I think one is redder than the other. Does anyone know?
Only one has pix on database.

Jo Ann, On this page, the photo added by Bob is the grower's photo. The more pink one is mine, bought from Santa Rosa.

I actually sent SR my photo, asked if I received the wrong plant, or if it really is that color. They sent me another plant. It was late in the year and I stuck it in a place where it got less sun, and the flowers were a little darker than on the original one. I think it might have just been kind of faded from our horrid heat and sun this summer. Honestly, we didn't have hardly any rain or even a cloud all summer. In a normal weather year, mine might be darker.

Which ever I got, I do love it. It has bloomed all summer with no maintenance.

I've not grown it so I can't say. But I think in SR's photos, Center Stage looks darker.

I think in cooler, more typical summer weather, mine might be darker than it was this year. We had unrelenting hot sun, temps in the 90s, and horrid drought. The drought continues... I swear we never even had a cloudy day all summer. Just blazing hot sun.

Nana was another nice one. I bought it last year from Santa Rosa. A very early bloomer, it's short and cute. It bloomed in spring/early summer for about 6 weeks. No rebloom, but again it might in a more normal summer.
