I received my Fall 2012 Daylily Journal yesterday, and wow -- the bloom pictures! Some of the hybridizers have pictures of their fall 2012 introductions, and some have their spring 2013 intros pictured!

I love all of the Floyd Cove Fall 2012 introductions, and Herrington Daylily Garden has a 2013 introduction named FRIED GREEN TOMATOES that I just love! And then Pete Harry Daylilies (formerly Frank Smith Daylilies) also has a double page Fall 2012 introductions page -- and PRISM PALETTE looks fantastic!

Oh yes, and I checked and Pete Harry Daylilies now has their Fall 2012's on the website:

http://www.peteharrydaylilies....

And Marietta Gardens also has their 2013 introductions pictured in a double page ad, etc., etc.

FANTASTIC!

I just checked, and Marietta Gardens does not have their 2013 intro's posted on their website yet, and neither does Art Gallery Gardens (the Lambertsons). But Ludlow Lambertson has pictures of two incredible 2013's in the Daylily Journal -- and one is a fringed/toothy wonder named EYELASH VIPER! WOW!

And Daylily World has the most yummy luminescent pastel fringed double named KATIE SNOWFLAKE by David Kirchhoff pictured in an ad titled "The Future At Daylily World".

And such wonderful articles, ads, pictures -- I would encourage anyone who has not yet joined the AHS to do so quickly so you can get this incredible magazine four times a year -- membership is $25.

I usually flip through the Journal, but rarely read much of it. Don't know why. But, I do like the AHS robin, which is also included for the $25. I'm seriously considering not sending in my dues at AHS for next year. And, at Dave's Garden also. The "Portal" -- I have a hard time with it.

I much prefer it here! LOL

Maybe my dis-interest in some of the forums and things comes from not being able to buy any new daylilies any more.

I do think our new editor has at least brought the Journal up to modern day!

I'm starting to poke around in the various websites now, and I just discovered that Heavenly Gardens (Jamie Gossard) has pictures of four of their seedlings that won Junior Citations and will be 2013 introductions.

http://www.daylilynet.com/

Juli, I still love to see the pictures of what's coming even though I simply cannot afford to buy more than two or three at most, and I'm absolutely crazy about the unbelievable toothy/fringed newbies that the hybridizers are coming up with! And you're probably right -- sooner or later you'll probably see them all here. But when I'm enthused I want to see everything NOW because who knows about tomorrow...

Ditto, it was my favorite for sure and I dont know why or how Ive ever missed seeing that one before.

As for the journal, I have to admit that I really like it. I would support the AHS anyway, but Im really glad somebody does the journal. Im guessing its alot of work. Ive never been on the Robin, seemingly the last person standing who hasnt.

I was just looking through my journal and some flowers caught my eye. I started reading the article and I looked over at the picture to see who it was. It was not who was growing them, but the author of the article. By golly, It was Freds Kathleen. Article by Kathleen Manning.
I know thats not as easy to do as one might think. I got stumped just in my club newsletter. She did a great job. The people she was writing about grow some nice flowers as well.

Ok, I've made a very hard decision. I will go tomorrow and take out a second mortage on my home so I may BUY MORE DAYLILIES!!! I just flipped through the new Journal I got today and I'm drooling so bad that I'm causing puddles in the floor. I want them, each and everyone of them that have a photo in this Journal. I'm quite sure when I hit upon their websites I will find even more to want. I think by law in Mississippi, I will have to get dear hubbies signature on that loan too, so this may get a tad bit difficult. Anyone else ever gone through this dilemma?

I don't know how in the world I could decide which ones not to get. If I could only get 3 or 4 or 5. Maybe 5 would do it for me. That's 5 collections not individual plants. Still, I've sold a passel of seeds on the Lily auction but at 35 cents apiece, it's going to take----let's see-- 5 collections x about $2000 a collection would be $10,000. That 28,000 something seeds I'd need to sell at 35 cents a seed. I just don't have that many but--- the first idea of the second mortage is looking more promissing about now Rolling on the floor laughing

All that foolish stuff aside, I love our Daylily Journal. It's the highlight of my year, 4 times a year. Our region finally started doing a journal this summer. It was good, also. Maybe we'll have a new Fall edition come in soon. I really enjoy going to the website too. I understand how some folks don't get alot out of it but for the ones that do, it's a real treat. Let's see, I think that's what makes all of this so great, some like white, some like red and the list could go on forever. Remember, everyone, HAVE FUN!! Mona

Herringtons website has been updated with the 2013 http://www.herringtondaylilyga...
I love Fried Green Tomatoes. I wish dip or tet was listed and since parentage isn't listed either I can't tell what it is. I guess I'll email or wait for the AHS data base to be updated.

He has about the only daylies I will, if I can, pay full price for. He breeds for rust resistance first, and he isnt playing. Love the FGT myself, and it looks like my kids got him to name one for me, gotta have that wicked witch of the west. After loosing his wife ( will miss her doubles), its so great to see his daughter working him, Im guessing its his daughter and grandson.

Thats insane to update your website and not give parentage or Dip or Tet. I'm betting it is a Dip since I haven't seen any Tets that even look like it. I like it to but I don't grow many Dips. It looks enough like Rose F Kennedy that it may be from her.

I didnt even notice that, odd. I know some just list sdlg x sdlg. Thats annoying as well. I know sometime you just loose track of a seedling, but not all the time.

My copy of the journal hasn't arrived yet. It will have to keep me occupied for a while since I've decided I can't buy plants until after I move. Crying It's been like 3 weeks and withdrawals are setting in.

Plus, that countdown on the LA just got a lot more depressing...

When I first saw FRIED GREEN TOMATOES in the Daylily Journal I said to myself "That's got to be a dip" because it seems like all the daylilies with huge amounts of green in the middle are always dips. But I really really love it, even though I'm committed to purchasing just tets these days. After Michele said she thinks there's now a TET ROSE F. KENNEDY I guess I'll bide my time. I was thrilled to get TET MALACHITE PRISM from Maryott's this year, and it has a large amount of chartreuse plus that wonderful triangular look to the eye.
