Some of my peonies are already sleeping an di have a few that the leaves are starting to
die back. My question is How can I store them ? We are selling the house and I will not be
leaving any of the behind. I would like to dry store them for a couple of months if possible
Any ideas ?

I do not think there would be a problem digging and holding them for a couple of months. A lot depends upon your late fall weather and if it would be nice enough weather to plant them in your new home. Otherwise, dig, divide and pot them until next spring. Others may have better ideas but that is the way I would handle them. Some vendors hold their excess harvests in cold storage until Spring before they sell them.

I was going to pot them up after we get up to RI. I am trying to cut down on the number
of pots I have to move I already have sooo many to move. I was hoping I could
put them in peat in a box like my calla lilies .

Go for it. You could leave them dry rather than take a chance on mold.

Great . I will make sure all the dirt is off. Do they need to be washed in anything before storage ?

I always wash mine before dividing but it is just to be able to see all the buds and roots. Transferring soil from one state to another may not be a good idea so I would wash them but make certain they are dry before packing them in boxes.
