Ha, Jen, lake effect. Can you believe it. The snow is a great insulator, and starts before the ground freezes here. The lake keeps the ground warm up until snow, and then the snow insulates it. We have a 1/2 inch or so where it touches the snow, but no freezing into the ground other than that. However, on the other end, spring comes really late up here by the lake.

LOL, Susan!

I knew I was going to be too busy with irises, Jo. And I am.

Camassia and Brodiaea plus a few tulips. I'll force about 70 tulips & 50 daffodils. Forced daffodils from last year will go into the ground
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

The garden cleaning crew uncovered places where I marked for bulbs this fall.
Guess I need more bulbs for next year. I used red plastic flatware to mark where I needed bulbs when planting in the fall.
My bulb allowance didnt go as far as I wanted it to.

Sorry to hear that Jo Ann, have you gotten any from the co-op. I got a few from stilldew, box deal for 19.95. She had daylilies, liliums, perennials, etc. Just a really, really good deal. I am not watching that forum anymore. I really don't need to know anymore. Rolling my eyes.

Dutch Iris, mini daffodils, crocus. This is the year to see what is left from plantings of a few years ago. I like daffodils between the daylilies. I think I'm done with tulips they don't last like daffodils.

I like Daffodils between the Hostas. I just buy the cheap tulips and put them into a pot, they can be quite stunning next to the front door.. But, you are right they don't last long.

I have had problems with deer eating tulips, if you plant them in large pots and leave them out for the winter will they bloom again?

If the whole plant is eaten I doubt it will rebloom. Not an expert tho. I know if bulbs are dug while blooming they dont return.

If the bulbs are ok, and they get a cold spell they will bloom. I plant mine usually in the late fall and they just sit over the winter and when they start blooming I will stick them out front. I read a real good tip the other day about repelling deer and now I can't remember what it was, but when I find it I will let you know. Geezer moment.
