I have a few sedums not hardy to my zone.When do i need to bring them in.Do i need to look up zone hardiness for each one to see how low a temp it can handle.Is there a temp most bring their's in?

We have already had a couple of nights in the high 30's, but mostly still in the high 40's.

Our nights are getting colder, temps in the 40's.I brought in my Kalanchoe and other cacti types just to be sure I didnt forget them.
The orchid stays out until mid October.

I have been researching some of my plants and have gotten an ID on the last of them!!

Some Genus have so many species or cultivars until some names have 5-10 different plants under 1 name it's mind blowing.
Please tell me if you think i got this one right,it's the only one in my research that even came close to looking like this plant????


They are hard to make out in the pictures but the leaves have green in middle and white down each side.Here's the info i found as far as what it is.

family -Crassulaceae
genus - Sedum
Species - Lineare
cultivar - variegatum (that was the name on label i couldn't find)

It's hardiness zones are 7a - 11 (so once i get it well established i can put it in the rock garden that's coming along very slowly but coming along)

Sedum Adolphii is another with lots of different colors & names (cultivars)

We might have to wait on this one until it grows more and blooms. How long have you had it Jelinda?

It's just cuttings i have rooted.Guess i need to bring it in over the winter and let it grow some.I am going to take it out of my "rooting pot" and plant it into it's own pot.I will take another picture with all the pieces in one pot.It rooted easily,if you lay it down it will root in multiple places,i had some root at both ends,i just cut it in the middle.

I haven't had it very long.The leaves kinda curl towards the stem and are green & white.I found it under the name above on DG.
We will see come next spring,going to try and put it under lights this winter.

Next year we should be able to give it an ID. Especially once it blooms, that will really help to ID it.

That does not look like mine. It was tagged at the nursery, if that means anything.

Since I do not do well with sedum am glad this one seems to do OK.

Think it will survive a winter there?

Time will tell. It's suppose to be hardy to zone 4, so should make it through your winter.

Here are some more picture's i took.I have to apologize for the quality of my pictures,my camera went for a swim thanks to my 19 month old grandson.It hasn't focused good since These are a little better and the other plant in the last pictures does anyone know what they could be?

I wish i could get better pictures of the longer pieces because it shows more mature leaves and they kind of turn in or curl toward the stem.

They do look just like the picture (i can't remember who posted & asked) I can't scroll up to look because i hit preview to look at the pictures,i'm good at posting the same pic twice.But yes mine do look like the pictures above.Are those what i had said i thought mine were the Sedum 'lineara' cultivar variegatum?On the marked down pot of mixed plants this plant was in,one of the names on the label was sedum variegatum,but this plant was down to pieces and not a whole plant.It was the only name i couldn't find a picture for until now.

Above is how i found the name listed with variegatum as a cultivar,i guess that's why i couldn't find it?

Jojoe, first two photos could be variegated sedums, for the last two as Lynn says it looks like Mother of Thousands, which makes many babies at the tips..very fast to multiply so do watch out for the little ones it produces. Nature helps me control Mother of Thousands, since I plant it in containers outside, come cold, wet season, it tapers down, sometimes seems ready to die, but quickly recovers as soon as drier, warmer temps return.

I found a plant called Kalanchoe 'delagoensis' mother of thousands.Compare my picture to the picture in the link.BY GEORGE I THINK WE HAVE IT!!!

They aren't hardy to my zone and from what i have read they can get tall and have big flowers,so i will have to figure out how many to put in what size pot.From what i've seen they grow fast.The points on the top of mine and the points on the ones on the link seem to be buds of some kind.

They are listed as tropicals & tender perennials hardy zones 10a to 11, not succulents.What is the best soil to pot them in?
