Thank you for the identification. Pearl Crescent, Phyciodes tharos looks right to me, based on pictures of it that are available online.

How is it that someone who lives in Indonesia can identify butterflies in Pennsylvania? 🙂

Oooh Carol and Hamwild.... I am no way good on ID-ing thing compares to others in this site, but the online world exposed us to such an amazing array of things regardless where we live..thanks to those who share things just like you people.
oh, and amazing it is your picture, a Gothic colored butterfly on a beauty but deadly hemlock, both encasing beauty and danger in a magical scene.
