Many of you may remember Lynnette Payne/Callan or the old rosarian from the original gardenweb forums. At one time she grew almost 1000 roses on her acre garden in Comox BC mostly ogrs, ramblers, climbers, austins and Kordes roses. She was generous with sharing her knowledge and plants. I had the pleasure of visiting her beautiful gardens many times over the past 20 years and consider her my rose mentor. She shared budwood with Palatine Roses so you may have the opportunity to grow some of the hard to find plants she grew. She passed away in March of 2020. She will be missed.

She past away in Feb. I think.
It's a rose!!! It has nothing to do with life and death.

Yes She passed away in March 2020. I edited my original post to be more clear. S he had been ill for some time. I only just found out, because of covid I was unable to visit her since last fall. She leaves a legacy of love of the beauty of roses. I feel privileged to have known her and benefited from her knowledge and kindness. My humble little garden in Victoria is a testament to her generosity and I have renamed it Lynnette's garden in her honour.

This is sad news. I am grateful to her for helping me on the other forums when I was just a beginner. I remember when I was stressing about pruning New Dawn-in my climate, an enormous thug-and she recommended that I stop anguishing over such stuff, told about just using a pair of shears on a rose like ND,and then going back ,if necessary, and do a little detail clean-up...In other words, she helped me make the move from being a scared, overly finicky beginner to becoming a bold Rose Gardener! Thank you, Lynette. We will miss you.
