Hi all!

I have no idea what to do here!
Grass? A different ground cover?
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
John

Are going to rip out the patio?
I so that is a very hard job for a crew , much less one person.
It will take time and money, lots of money.

We got a sledge hammer, and borrowed a farm tractor. We just used the tractor to lift it up and then whacked it w the hammer and loaded it onto the scoop and hauled it to a hole the neighbor had. We took out a similar sized area in one Saturday. It had gravel underneath that we had to scoop out too. Then we added compost and planted it.

I would leave the patio that the table is sitting on. You need to watch Monty Dons Gardening in Small Spaces, you will get some wonderful ideas and the spaces they work on are very small like yours, and actually doable things that real homeowners do within a reasonable cost. I watched it on netflix, but I think it is free on you tube. Firstly you need to decide what you want the space to do FOR you. Grow food? Look pretty? Winter interest, space for kids to play, dog walk area, bbq or outdoor entertaining area, do you want butterflies to come, maybe you want to attract birds? do you want a small water feature, ect, do you need to add privacy and how will you water, clean, maintain the area, is theft a problem where you are ,ect. What is your budget, how do you want the space to look in 5 yrs, 10 yrs, do you want to stay in your home forever or do you plan on leaving it in a few years? You don't want to invest in pricey things you won't be staying to enjoy long term...
