My MIL (she's German) collects yard gnomes. I don't have any pictures, bur it'd probably take me a half an hour to photograph all of them. Hilarious!

there is one who lives under the ginkgo tree but he is very shy and hard to find
I didn't see him around so I got his house Smiling

I have learned that the best time to catch a gnome is when they are out spying on the fairies.

He asked for permission to do it. Then it got popular and they told him to remove them.

My favorite quote was in the NYT article:

"We feel bad that people are disappointed," Mr. Baker said. "However, part of our mission is to teach conservation and environmental ethics, and we don't want to teach those kids that there are gnomes out here in the woods."

Right. Because the world is better off without magic. Blinking

Cute houses
I was concerned in the first link the beginning I saw him taking a pry bar to the base of a tree to remove a door he had nailed to the tree Thumbs down hope he was not damaging the trees.
Just my personal taste when I go to a wooded park I like my nature naked.

As do I. However, Little Buffalo State Park has lodging of various structural types, a public pool, grist mill, store, amphitheater, and special events hall. It already has a wide array of non-nature related uses. In several of the pictures, the gnome homes were next to a road.
