Alas, the polar vortex / freezing rain / icemageddon / snow dump created an unfortunate victim here. One of the smaller gnomes was found in his favorite pot. He will be missed.

Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

UrbanWild said:He asked for permission to do it. Then it got popular and they told him to remove them.

My favorite quote was in the NYT article:

"We feel bad that people are disappointed," Mr. Baker said. "However, part of our mission is to teach conservation and environmental ethics, and we don't want to teach those kids that there are gnomes out here in the woods."

Right. Because the world is better off without magic. Blinking

Right but you see the entirely unrealistic garbage kids watch on tv/video games, no problem teaching them that... if your kid is so daft that he thinks gnomes he sees at the park are 'real' you got WAY bigger problems than face value Whistling

CHUCKIE big creep factor there. the gnome homes were cute and harmless and it's too bad they had to be removed. but they still bother me.

There are many Gnomes in my garden, and I have yet to photograph them. However, there is a Gnome in a statuary center near me which is calling my name...lol. It is $100.00 and is concrete, about two feet in height, and I go back and forth about it. Here is a photo of the Gnome looking for a new home...maybe mine....?
