Hello fellow rose lovers! I have a question for you about my mini roses.

I purchased three mini roses a few days ago, and some of the blooms are now spent. I know why rose bushes are deadheaded---to promote more blooms. What I want to know is should I deadhead my mini roses, too? If so, what technique should I use?

My instinct is to conclude that the mini roses require deadheading just as much as normal, large rose bushes, but I do not want to make any mistakes with them. They are so petite and pretty!

Thank You!

OAP -- Treat them just like "big" roses . . . But keep one thing in mind.

Miniature Roses are classed as "Miniature" because of the size of their BLOOM. The size of the PLANT is a different kettle of fish. There are in fact Miniatures which are small plants. But but but . . . While HelpMeFind Roses says that 'Jean Keneally' (as one example) grows to about 3-ft. tall, I have seen it growing happy as a clam, edging up to SEVEN feet. And some of the CLIMBING Minis are . . . AWESOME. Trying to take over the world.

Wow, that is amazing, jerijen! I would love it if the ones I purchased would grow into a nice size bush. I have no idea what variety they may be as there was no stake with them that said anything other than "rose." They are very pretty, though, and even in pots, they really brighten up my little garden. nodding

You can plant them right into the garden and they will do very well! Just treat them like you do your bigger roses and watch them grow.

^^^ Thanks! I might try if I can find some free spots in my beds. My garden is so small. Wish I had a bigger one!

The thing is my garden is quite small now, and I still am not getting much housework done! Can you imagine if I had a much larger garden?! I guess I would end up living outside in it! Hilarious!
