I was wondering if there is a way to do a search within a forum and just get the posts that contain the search criteria to display?
What happens is I do a search in a forum, on a given "term" and threads show up with pages and pages but perhaps only 1 post within a given thread has the information I'm looking for.

Is there a way to just have the posts with the search criteria show versus the entire thread?

Thank you for the help.

I'm afraid not but it's something that I might add at some point in the future.

When I need to find something deep in a very long thread, what I will do is change my preferences to show 500 posts per page. Then load the thread up and Ctrl-F and search in my browser for it. That works well for me.

What a wonderful new feature that would be Dave. I have run into the same problem when trying to find something specific. Sure takes up a lot of time. Sad

Thanks Dave for looking at this. Thumbs up Yesterday I was trying to find something and wondered if the site had the feature and I just wasn't seeing the function to do it. *Blush*

Now why didn't I think of that? Blinking

I've fumbled through forum searches as well but use Dave's technique all the time when working in the DB. Shrug!

I do what Dave does: edit, find, search for the word.

But I can't miss this opportunity to jump on my soapbox again with the thought that if we had shorter threads, and a new thread for a new subject, we wouldn't have this problem. Shrug!
