Great pictures. I love seeing bees and other (good) insects in flowers.
I've currently got one foxglove that a group of those giant black bee's are crazy about. The flower stalk leans from left to right like a metronome when they're all feasting on it at the same time...back and forth, back and forth. Tried taking pictures of it but they came out blurry. Why they like that one particular plant is a mystery...they don't seem to want to be bothered with the other foxgloves in the garden.

Mike - WAHAHAHAH! I wish you could get a video of that.. it definitely would go viral in a heartbeat! And what giant black bees? Only black "bees" I know of (or I've seen) are these icky wasp-looking insects that look totally evil, but I don't kill them because I don't know if they're "good" or "bad". I leave 'em all alone for the most part except for hornets.. I'll take out a hornet in a heartbeat as I don't need/want a 5th hornets nest next to my house again!

And I see why I'm getting so many ladybugs (well, not enough to suit me, personally).. I've got aphids again. Bleh.

EDIT: Did a 3 second google search, looks like my black wasps are actually Sphex pennsylvanicus, Giant Black Wasps. And I was right to fear them, they've got a pretty nasty sting. But I still won't kill them as they eat grasshoppers & caterpillers, which is good for me. Less grasshoppers means less of my roses will get eaten! http://en.allexperts.com/q/Ent...

Buzzing insects and their fads can be interesting. When my salvia nemerosa May Night was in bloom, I could hear the buzzing from fifty feet away. There were so many bees I feared going much closer. Six weeks later when a blue version of salvia nemerosa is in full bloom, hardly a bee is to be found. Not complaining, though.
