It behaves like an airplane plant except it is much larger
and the leaves are wider and thicker.

Thanks for the help with the ID. I think that is the exact plant.
I have a question - I went out to the garden room just to see
if I could smell a fragrance since that word is in the name.
Mine doesn't have any fragrance. Does that make a difference?

Louise: Does your plant have flowers now? Mine blooms during the summer and the flowers are quite fragrant but sometimes I can only detect the fragrance in the evening.

I've grown this plant for several years and seemed to
notice the tiny blooms on a spike before it produced the
long growth where the new plants form. I never paid any
attention to them and usually broke them off immediately.
Maybe, I should not have done that.
I usually start a new hanging basket about this time with
three plants in it, winter it in the garden room and just
discard the large plant. I've shared them with many friends.

I had never seen or heard of this plant until I received a little "pup" in my very first plant trade on Dave's Garden. It's such an easy plant and has become one of my favorites!. The bloom spikes do get very long and the blooms aren't all that pretty but they are very fragrant:

I guess that I cheated myself by eliminating them too
quickly. I'll have to remember that and discover a new
experience with the plant.

p.s.- I love looking at all the pictures of your semps.
The colors are just amazing. I received two orders
from twit and gold??? when on cubits about two
springs ago. Some are still with me and some faded.

Very nice but LOL, I don't grow Semp's so you must be thinking of Lynn/ValleyLynn. I know she has many, many great photo's in the database!

I just tried to add a picture of the Crypthanthus bivittatus that was
ID'd in another post today. I didn't know just which line to enter the
info into. I didn't see a link to upload a picture. So, I gave up for
now. I was able to add a picture of my Alocasia 'Frydek' without
any problem. I don't know what I should have done differently.
I'll keep trying - and find the place for instructions on ATP.

Louise, if you want to use the same photo you put up for ID you can click on "import to database" which you will find at the bottom of your photo when enlarged.
