Thanks for the thumbs, acorns and comments! Putting the parentage together wasn't to hard, organized sdlg list and image folders make a difference. Unlike this year with multiple image folders still to sort.

I like the looks of Dan's Chan Dom Vongthirath, Larry. Hope it gives you some nice sdlgs. I tried to grow Parting the Red Sea twice, once from Dan and then Curt gave me a piece of the clump he had at his place. It was to tender for here. When you look at Fire Marshall Bill's 2 kids you can see just how quick you loose the relief. Outcrossing is the only way sometimes to bring in what you need though and you can get some nice non relief sdlgs from doing it. I did a lot in the beginning and now can go back and forth between the Inner Flame line and the Proof Positive line.

I must admit that I largely got Chan Dom Vongthirath because of Dan's fabulous helper the plant was named in honor of, from what I understand. How the lady can plant thousands of daylily seedlings in a day is amazing to me.

No August seedlings here, but I loved going through this thread to see what everyone else is getting. Very nice blooms!

Pretty sparse in the old seedling bed. I moved a handful of late bloomers out to the regular daylily beds, and it's really noticeable. Here are some random ones from the last 10 days or so.

I don't know, Sue. I would think the more age they get, the more they are going to bloom the way they will when they are totally mature. On the other hand, you know how daylilies are. If they've had a stressful summer: Drought, contention from weeds, trees growing into their space, overfertilized, underfertilized, unusual heat, unusual cold... I think those things can impact flower color and how they open, so I just don't know. Would be kind of interesting if 46-6 bloomed like the middle picture most of the time. Kind of reminds me of trillium.

Thanks Tim, I agree. There does seem to be something about this cross that favors the cristate form, though I don't think it is on the Strawberry Parfait side. HNF has produced a lot of seedlings with extra tissue in/on the petals. Though I have many HNF crosses and this is the only one doing this....
