I went on a photography trip to Pleasure Island on Wednesday and was amazed at the number of Camphor Daisy (Rayjacksonia phyllocephala) that were blooming.
Here is a sample of what I saw.
This dirt road that I drove down was about a mile long and the flowers looked like this the entire distance.
On my right was on embankment. This is what it looked like on the other side. Camphor Daisies as far as you can see. This area covers several hundred acres.

Wow! Jay, that is really amazing, thank you for showing them to us. It is so nice to have you with us here,
This plant is a lovely annual and very much worth cultivating.
The Wildflower center has no pictures for it, you should send them some; http://www.wildflower.org/plan...

Thank you Jay. Another question, how can it smell similar unless there is something in common?
If essential oil is extracted are its properties in some way similar?
Regards,
Masud.

I guess Jay is still looking for an answer to your question, I know I have been looking but could find no references, so maybe yes, maybe no, but a beautiful flower anyway.

Camphor: An aromatic crystalline compound, C10H16O, obtained naturally from the wood or leaves of the camphor tree or synthesized and used as an insect repellent, in the manufacture of film, plastics, lacquers, and explosives, and in medicine chiefly in external preparations to relieve mild pain and itching.
Thanks Tee! There are several plants that are said to smell like camphor, and have the name camphor in either the common or botanical names.
Heterotheca subaxillaris - Camphorweed
Tanacetum camphoratum - Camphor tansy
Pluchea camphorata - Camphor weed
Artemisia camphorata - Camphor Southernwood
Thank you Tee. I asked because camphor or Camphora is a drug and universal antidote to lets say plant poisons. It grows in this area. http://hpathy.com/e-books/mate...
