I bought three plants from Country Boys and I won't buy from them again. Their prices were great and the plants were healthy, but they were very small. I bought Abba Dabba Doo, Atlantis and Squash Casserole from them. All three were at least a year or more behind other plants that I got from Hallson, Naylor or Made in the Shade. Here's what Abba Dabba Doo looked like when it arrived.
Thumb of 2013-04-06/steve_mass/6aa1c1 One eye, small root system. Looks like a first year TC. Hallson's plants are two or three time this size and thus are years ahead in terms of developing into a mature plant. I ended up replacing both Atlantis and Squash Casserole with larger plants, because they just didn't grow. So I didn't save any money at all.

Just my opinion,

Steve

I love Hallson, and big plants. Bigger the better! But when I started my hosta garden and purchased 50 at one time then Hallson was not affordable. I did luck-out and got some large divisions from HostaDirect when they put the mature divisions on clearance, some had 8 eyes and I got them for $3.99. Whoohoo!
Countryboys has one year plants right now for $2.00 and I did get several for 2.99 and the two and three year plants whenever possible. As for the TC, how would you know anyway? Isn't it just propagation with a smaller piece? Nowadays I think they all use TC. don't you? Confused
These are the Countryboy one year plants after two years.

There is a very reasonable grower up north who sells good size plants at bargain prices. They have Queen Josephine for 5.00. I have ordered from them a couple of times and was very happy with the order. They also have Francee for 4.00.
I got all these Hostas for 38.00 and flat rate shipping fee of 10.00.
