They are already out of Eliane Gillet, guess how I know that. I really want to try a Guillot and a Delbard rose. I also have Amaretto on an alternate list. I also wanted to try a fairy tale rose, but the sale one was sold out. I am restricting myself to the sale, no matter how tempting Antique Caramel is.

I noticed Solitude and liked the pictures, but couldn't find anyone growing it in a colder zone. It is listed as the default 6b. I try to find people or botanical gardens, such as the Chicago Garden, who have been growing it for a while. (The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is fab, but at least a zone warmer). It was bred in Denmark, but Denmark is more temperate than here.

I think you will like Wildeve. The blooms are even holding up in the rain today. I admired it in a pot at Walmart with the roses and my friend, Ben, bought if for me because it looked healthy and was "my kind of color", a soft, warm pastel. I didn't know what an "AUSbonny" was. It was my first own root rose, my first Austin and the first rose that I tried to grow that didn't mind the winters here.

I have a couple more Austins roses, but Wildeve is still my favorite.

I am disappointed in Golden Celebration so far. It has terrible blackspot. Perhaps it is not a good idea to try to grow it on a trellis against the wall, maybe I should experiment with it as a pillor. Tiffany is growing nearby with no blackspot at all! (Tiffany, the rose. Tiffany, my Westie, only gets black spots when she chases rodents in the mud.) I am treating that rose bed with systemic fungicide after last years unsuccessful attempt to try organic rose gardening in one of the wettest, coldest years in recent memory.

I am having a growing problem with neighbors who aren't picking up after their dogs. Both the town and the townhome complex have rules and strict fines. I have to pick up the lawn each morning and evening. Two days ago, the lawn mower must have driven thru dog poo. It got all over the sidewalk. I hosed it off best I could, but I draw the line at mopping other peoples messes off the sidewalk. Of course, Tiffany had to try to pee on each smudge of ick. I am ready to move my fencing to the sidewalk and just have flowers. (If I fence in the grass, I will get stuck trimming it.) I already put up a sign, as have three other neighbors.

I was wondering where I could fit more roses anyway......

I'll post some pictures, but first I have to get my desk set up again, plug in my new USB hub and find my camera. I had to tear everything apart to replace phone cords and dsl filters. Phone jacks and electrical outlets are never located where you would like them to be... I still have noise on my line and can't hear the phone ring. I have to wait until my ancient answering machine starts talking. If they would listen to me and send a repair person when it is raining, they would solve the problem faster.....I suspect they are trying to avoid having to run a new line or change a box or something.

Tiffany thinks it would be fun to take a walk in the rain....Can't sleep anyway with all the wind and thunder.

I also like Peggy M. The pictures are lovely, but there isn't much information on that one. A few people in the midwest grow it.

I have most of the Jerabek roses, but Peggy M. is one I don't have. I like them. They grow very well here. Photogenic got huge in one year. A lot of his roses are on the sale list.

Paul Jerabek hybridized and grew all of his roses in Ohio, so there's a good chance his roses are hardy in your zone.

You were right, Andi. They were out of Eliane Gillet, but I am getting the other three I wanted -- Peggy M., Miss Ada, and Wildeve -- and one of my alternates -- Bronze Masterpiece.
