Southern California
I live in Southern California (inland), this plant/tree popped up at the begining of the year. I meant to move it when it when it was small, but, didn't get around to it, now it's about 6 ft tall.
It can't stay where it is, but, I doubt it will survive moving it at this point.
It has produced long, flat seed pods, some are brown and rattling. I'd like to try germinating some seeds, but need to ID it for germinating info and where to plant any seedlings that may grow.
Thank you in advance for your help !!

Given the description, its some sort of Acacia or one of its relatives(like Albizia).
Ever seen it flower, have a photo of the whole plant?

Can you post more photos? The whole tree and seedpods? How thick are the leaves? What color and kind of flower? Any thorns?

Thank you all for the responses...
Unfortunately I missed it flowering D'Oh!
No thorns, the leaves are thin, seedpods are about 7 inches long and are really thin. I broke one open, seeds are brown, around the size of sunflower seeds...maybe slightly bigger.

Its a Silk Tree (Albizia). The flowers should have been some shade of pink.

Im leaning towards albizia as well. It sorta has a thing which makes the leaves move during nighttime which is what I assume is up with the last photo of the first post. Also, thin leaved and spineless

That's a possibility but there have only been about 6 instances of this tree occurring in California. We would have to know more specifically where the tree is located or WW will have to do their own detective work.

Size of leaves, flowers, locations of other trees... Start here:

It sure looks like a Leucaena Tree, and they would grow in southern CA.

There are several in downtown Santa Rosa ,CA against a south facing wall , They bloom and make lots of seed pods.
They are sprouting in protected places

They are also growing all over in Corpus Christi TX.

Wow...yes it does look like that...and the seeds and pods look similar, too.
I don't know....the flowers of the Leucaena look like they wouldn't be as noticeable...which could be why I didn't notice them.
I guess I'll have to try to germinate some seeds and grow them until they bloom .

Thank you so much to everyone that has answered. I appreciate your help. Thank You!
