Lynn -- I don't have a lot of info yet but from what I understand, it's native to California.

Wow, I tried finding a place that sells them. No luck. I would grow that in my raised beds if I could find some.

I would as well. They are threatened in CA where they only grow in one area of Kern County, I think it is.

I read somewhere that it was also sited in Inyo county, up in the pinyon forest.

Inyo and Kern are adjacent so maybe the location of the plant overlaps the two counties.

Wow, I might be going through there this coming spring. Wonder when their bloom time is out in nature?
Sure wish I could find some seed, seems like an organization would be propagating them since they are in danger?
