I am pretty sure that an X Neotanthus is a hybrid of two Neotanthus??

LOL, I'd never heard of XNeotanthus so I did some googling yesterday and the cross is apparently Neoregelia X Cryptantus.

Recently saw these N. Malbecs that looked so much like my N. Magali. The green part was much greener than shows in these photos.

Saw them at a nursery in Jacksonville, Good Earth on Beach Blvd. I love the stripes on the one pictured on their website, these were not in their stripe phase. I may have to go back and invest in one. Passed on them the other day because they were so like the Magali.

Crossing a Neoregelia with Cryptanthus... very interesting. I really like the Neoregelia 'Pitch Black' has grown into a nice looking bromeliad.

I found this pretty bromeliad in Dunnellon this past week. No tag and the young man attending said it was a sport of N. Kahala Dawn, will be more pink than red. It was next to N. Kahala Dawn plants, I dunno Shrug! but I love the colors, it is about 20 inches wide by 12 tall.

Whatever it is, I love those colors also. I just received a Skotek Neo. 'Royal Beauty' in the mail, it is a nice large offset. Pictures after I get it into a pot.

Aww, Scott you didn't quite go far enough. I like them when the inflo's are all pale pink and the wilted flowers turn black, too. They sure put on a show.

I had a little bit of excitement with a bromeliad today. Beside our gravel walkway, I thought for sure I had a snake hiding under the weeds, but Hmmm, it wasn't moving. Turns out it's a happy little Crytpanthus growing nicely under all the weeds and other broms. I think this one was a gift that I really didn't know what to do with. It found it's place it seems.

Seems I have a late bloomer on my Aechmea fasciata on the tree stump, too. I'm honestly not sure if this bloom is just coming or if it's finished and fading. I have so much cleaning up to do, wish the weather would cool off some more, so I can get the jungle beaten back a bit more, then I can see all my treasures blooming in hiding.

Nice find Elaine, does seem to have found its happy place. Cryptanthus are loving this warm and wet weather.
Alice can't wait to see you new plant.
Scott, nice timeline of the bloom, and thanks for the acorn nut.

Wallindsia cyanea variegated another little find on my vacation.

Nice. I like the cyanea variegated. I'm a sucker for most variegated plants. LOL

Experimenting with a little cyanea variegated, soil less.
A few days over 2 months growing this way....

Interesting Steve, mine are grown outdoors, but seems your's is doing nice. The one I just bought will be transported to a clay pot with pine bark soil mix, not liking the soil it is in now, stays too wet after a rainfall. I hope the variegated grows as well as the non variegated does, takes these awhile to rebloom again.

Gosh guys, I have to apologize. I am afraid I rarely look at the messaages at the top of the home page, I just go directly to the forums I am watching. Oops, there were over 1,000 messages there D'Oh! including some with acorns that I had been gifted. Please accept my apologies for not thanking you sooner. I will watch more carefully in the future.

Here is the new N.'Royal Beauty', it is about 15" across right now but should get larger as it matures. Second photo is of N. Plever, also fairly new, as it starts to show some color.

Beautiful! I'll have to go check on my clumps to see if there's an encore coming along, too.

I do have another clump of my 'Kyoto' with a light colored 'sport' as well. Just noticed it yesterday as I was weeding and uncovered it from under a couple of other plants. Wonder what's going on with these guys.
