With the exception of this one, Chamaesyce inequilatera, all Chamaesyce names are now synonyms for Euphorbias. Can all the names be changed in the database at once to reflect that they are synonyms or does each have to be done individually, connecting them to the Euphorbias with which they are synonymous?

That doesn't seem feasible because it might not be just a genus change in some cases. I just clicked on one in ITIS, Chamaesyce petaloidea, and it's now a synonym of Euphorbia missurica. Are all of the ones currently in the database simple genus changes or will the species also change for some?

I can certainly script things like this with very little trouble, but as Zuzu implied, it would have to be all or nothing.

Just leave them as is. They can be changed as the need arises then. I just wanted those searching to know that 99% of all Chamaesyce are now known as Euphorbias.

It is a massive job, Tee. Just move a few each day, and I'll do the same. It is important to get them over where they belong.

It takes me too long to do that, one proposal at a time, waiting for someone to approve, etc. It's just too time consuming for me right now. It's all yours if you want it. Smiling

Well, I asked to be moderator of Chamaesyce so it won't take so long for me to do things in the database. Smiling

Good. That's the right solution. ITIS doesn't recognize C. inequilatera, by the way, and ITIS also says that the whole genus is now Euphorbia (as of 2011). Is it possible that The Plant List information (as of 1987) should be reversed? Maybe C. inequilatera is a synonym of Euphorbia sanguinea instead of the opposite.

Probably so. The Plant List is what was being used most before I was out ill, so I still tend to check it first. I'll be paying more attention to ITIS.

There is another genus that has been moved into Euporbia but I can't remember what it is at the moment. My brain still isn't on top of it. I'm hoping it will be soon.

The Plant List is still useful because ITIS isn't as comprehensive, but ITIS is usually more up to date so it should be taken as a guide in the case of any conflicting information.

It appears I already took care of those before I was out sick. Yay! They weren't nearly as large genera as Chamaesyce.

I think I'll continue this in a tree-mail, Tee. No need for everyone's attention to be drawn to this thread every time we post. I have an idea that will save you some time. Smiling
