*happy happy happy dance!!* Out For Delivery!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I won't be home all day... but the temps are supposed to be in the 60s all day. Bleh! Where's my snow???

EDIT: I GOT A BOX!! I GOT A BOX!!! ooh Happy Happy Happy Day I got a box!! DH isn't happy about $250 spent on roses, but who cares, I got a box!! Now I gotta dig me some holes tomorrow morning!!

EDIT: Got everyone in the ground. Yay!! Moody Blues had some very weak grafted canes, so I'm hoping it'll pull through. I put everyone at least 12" down w/the bud union at least 2" below the surface and then put the bucket around the exposed canes & filled that with mulch. So now all I have to do is wait until spring. But since I saw a TON of worms as I was digging.. plus flies were buzzing around (!), I have no idea what the weather's gonna be like. I just hope we get some snow or rain or SOME kind of moisture soon.. but according to the weather, nothing for another 2 more weeks!! OMG, this is gonna be BAD!!!

I'm kinda disappointed with my shipment of Palatine. I lost a lot from this shipment. I lost:

Blue Nile http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...
City of Welland http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...
Charles de Gaulle http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Garden Delight http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...
and I think Monica http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...

However, one that I added in at the last minute, Buxom Beauty, is finally blooming. I'm not going to blame 100% on Palatine.. I will give them another chance w/o hesitation. But Moody Blues was pathetic and Charles de Gaulle was broken when I got him, so I'm thinking that is why I lost CdG. Moody Blues is hanging on by a thread.. I'll be surprised if he survives the winter. I'm going to take most of the blame on myself, but some of the blame isn't my fault. I can't control the fact that winter hung on & on & on & on until mid-late May! Spring didn't hit for me until almost mid June, and then it was SOOOOOOOOOOO dry... My main problem is that I buried the tags deep w/the plants, so I don't know where everyone's at. *sigh* Let's just chalk 2013 to a bad rose year and 2014 will be MUCH better!

I would lose a lot of roses to lack of water here in their first year except for the trick of putting a brightly colored surveyor's flag next to the newbies so that I won't forget to take care of them. Most of my roses pretty much fend for themselves.

PPal - That's what I did a few years ago.. Home Depot flags next to little bitties so that I knew where they were. This past year, I used bottomless buckets with mulch around the canes, so I knew exactly where they were at (lots of buckets sticking up everywhere). However, I couldn't do a lot of winter watering because the temps stayed too low (upper 30s in the day, teens at night) for most of the winter.. then it warmed up, then it froze again...

I'm creating a new order for this up coming year. I'll have them shipped to me in late April (Apr 28 is their latest date) rather than this winter. This is what I got:

Thumb of 2013-09-26/Skiekitty/f3650a

I decided to rip out my daylilies in the front as I'm just not into them and they're taking up space where I can put more roses. I'll put them in the back yard along the fence line. So that particular bed I need to raise up as it's pretty low & floods whenever I get a lot of water in the yard from rain or overwatering, then get that ready for roses next spring. Yay! I get to play in dirt!!! That'll make me happy. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
