Hiyamakki, Wow that is a gorgeous root!

What is everyone's experience with roots that have a little rot? A couple of song sparrow roots had rot and of course the potted Itohs...I cut off what I could and put Myco on the spots...but I am now wondering about them.

I'm such a newbie, I can't even tell if they have rot or not. My hope is that half of what I plan will have something for me.

I dug up and old peony early on a noticed lots of black, slimey gook on parts of it. I googled and found it was rot..kind of smelled like that too. None of the new roots are anywhere close to the rot on my dug up peony, but with all the rain this year, I don't want to take too much of a chance. I think cutting off as much as I can will probably work...just want a little reassurance.

We are dry as bone here, waiting for our first rain.

Cut off rot and soak remaining root in 5% bleach solution for 20 minutes. All roots I received from Song Sparrow were in good shape. Did your roots get delayed with the mail?

It was Buckeye Belle (the one that got misplaced) and one other...I think they had been dug for a while and the moss they packed them in was wetter than we need here...only thing I can think of. Not terribly worried about Song Sparrow, it was easy to cut off. The potted Itohs were lots worse. Bleach will probably take care of it.

SoCal, last year for Adelmans Black Friday sale I bought Sonoma Apricot. They sent a huge roots and I got two blooms in the Spring.

I'm glad you got SITR from them. It will be beautiful!

Annie, Buckeye Belle is wonderful. I'm glad they found yours.
