Thread OP

I live in South FL. My bedroom has a large window that overlooks a small patio/garden. Currently it's completely empty. I have no idea what to plant or do with it. The only idea I have is to put a beautiful flowery tree on that big corner to the left. I want it to be low maintenance but to still look beautiful.

Any and all ideas welcomed!

What an awesome space. You are so lucky. I can't speak to the climate, so for specifics I'd look to what the people around you have planted or ask at the local nursery. I would go with bold colors and patterns for containers of varying sizes (short and squat, long and tall...jewel tones would be nice). That's a lot of beige, so colors are going to really stand out. The other thing you're working with is the top of that wall which you can consider a horizon -- so strong verticals will contrast that in a pleasing way. Go tall! The other thing is cement is very hard, so look for vines and plants with soft foliage and curves that add softness. The beige resembles sand, so maybe play with that notion--that it is a small beach. I would go with fewer large plants rather than tons of small plants. And you need a place to sit out of the sun! So a bistro type table with an umbrella might be nice.
For a time. I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
