The ponytail palm is one of the most common succulent trees in cultivation. Its interesting form and ease of care make it an excellent house plant or patio plant, given good drainage and lots of light.
I had no idea that the ponytail palm could grow so large! Thank you for sharing the information about the difference between the cuttings and a full-fledged ponytail palm growing from it's original base. I can attest to it's drought tolerance...it has tolerated my (accidental) neglect very well this past year.

Since rescuing a ponytail from mother in laws windowsill, I have had great success with it and feel it is my most prized plant. It winters inside best it can, then summers outside and never burns at transition time. I water freely with rain water when its warm and sunny.
Saw a huge one, potted, on Puerto Rico, six feet tall at least, wonderful.
