Bougainvillae 'Pink Pearl'

Pretty, I like it.

Thank you Margaret. I grew up with Bougainvillae, so it has always been one of my favorite memory plants. I can't grow them here, to cold and wet.

Recognized it right off. But I was surprised when I scrolled down & the photo wasn't by Hetty! Lynn, what are you doing with a Bougainvillae?

OOPS - we cross posted. Where did you grow up Lynn?

I took that photo last spring when I took a road trip through California. I found it at a great little nursery in Upland, CA. Mt. Fuji Garden Center. He had some beauties and I sure wanted to take some home. Finally came to my senses.

Love Bougainvillae .. can grow it as an annual if I find a sunny spot. :-)

That sure is a pretty one.

There are so many beautiful new ones. I wonder how difficult they would be to over winter indoors?
Anyone have an answer to that?

I had a friend here in Colorado that did it. He put it in a sunny window and I know he had it for at least seven years.

I think it bit the dust when he moved to Chicago in the winter. I saw it blooming mid winter in his apartment.

I recognized it right away as I grew it when I lived in CA in the San Fran area, it grows like crazy there.

Ohhhh, talk about eye candy. Love the California gold and the Marilyn-Hattan especially.

But there are so many pretty ones, including the bright reds.

Oh nuts, I guess I like them all.

If you have a really, really sunny window in the winter Lynn ~~~ I think you could give it a go & see.

Lynn they have some dwarfish varieties now --- that might be the best way to go. I have a friend in N.C. who kept a night blooming cereus for 10 years. She had it in a huge pot & would lug it into the (unused) formal LR every winter & drag it back outside every spring. It bloomed every year for her. She finally gave it away b/c she got tired of wrestling that monster pot twice a year.
