Hi, this weird looking thing started growing in a couple of places in my garden bed. What is this? Is it a weed, or is it going to turn into some cool plant? I kind of like it, it looks like a succulent.

I agree. Remove it and every bit of roots and stems as it would grow again quite fast.

I knew an elderly Mexican woman who loved to eat it. Personally, I'd have to be desperate. Smiling Once it gets going in your yard, its almost impossible to get rid of so yes, I would pull it. Make sure you get all the pieces picked up.

I was just reading about the benefits of eating purslane, although I haven't tried it myself.

Thank you so much for identifying this weed, and for the advice! I didn't know it would take over so quickly! I am going to remove it, although reading through the all the vitamins/minerals his plant contains (Omega-3, Vitamin-A, B, C, minerals, iron, etc.) I feel like I should make Purslane soup for dinner! Smiling I am not sure I am brave enough to try to taste it though, but it is good to know that something like this weed could be so beneficial for our health!
