Jeff and Elizabeth Salter have posted their Fall 2012 Introductions now, and it looks like they're setting up their Spring 2013 Intros too, although no pictures yet. My favorites of Jeff's fall intros are QUEEN'S TREASURE and TROPICAL FROTHY, and I love all of Elizabeth's -- particularly METRO MARKET and EASTERN INSPIRATION. She has a small tet with a wonderful eye pattern and green throat named QUIET DREAMS too!

The Salters will be at a daylily meeting we will be going to this Saturday. They are the guest hybridizers at this club's December meeting each year. I understand that they bring a daylily for each person in attendance, plus there will be an auction for intros. that they will bring. Should be a fun and interesting Christmas meeting! We will have a catered lunch and door prizes, too. We belong to three daylily clubs, and this one has a great guest hybridizer at most all meetings---the reason we drive more than 2 hours to get there---plus a great group of people.

Ooh, you'll have to let us know what you got if they give one to everyone. And hopefully their website will be updated by Saturday. That's really fantastic that you have the hybridizers as guest speakers all the time! Envy here!!!

I've grown some mighty nice Salter daylilies. Enchanting Esmerelda -- I don't have it any more and I should. Such a great plant here. Make Believe Magic is another that is really nice here. So many more!!! I always loved Enchanted Elegance - really good parent. I don't have it any more either... Thumbs down It is so old, probably no one has it! I saw a lot of stippled seedlings from it crossed with Romulan Defector at Curt Hanson's.

Betty, the Salters brought 4 DFs of QUEEN'S TREASURE to today's meeting for auction. The first two DFs went for $75 each and the other two went for $50 each. We did not even bid on any of the auction daylilies. I was going to be good and not buy anything, since we still have daylilies in pots from the last meeting in October that have not been planted. Then, Elizabeth passes out this sheet of Special Sale daylilies (10) just for us today. These were double fans or better for $10, $15, $20 (only 2 were $20, the rest were $10 & $15 each). They brought at least 10 double fans of each. We came home with one of each:

BORDER PIXIE (E. SALTER 2011)
CHARACTER COUNTS (J. SALTER 2009) teeth!
FLAMES OF SUMMER (J. SALTER 2011)
PEACH PIE CRUST (SALTER 2009)
PINWHEEL PRINCESS (E. SALTER 2010)
PUMPKIN AND SPICE (J. SALTER 2O08)

Then they gave everyone the daylily SIMPLY SMASHING as a Christmas gift. (This was our Christmas meeting complete with a most delicious meal of turkey, dressing, an assortment of vegetables and desserts prepared by one our members and a wide assortment of door prizes.) It was a good meeting. I wish everyone could have been there.

Thanks, Debra. I am not sure which is my favorite but Tibetan Temple really appeals to me. Some of these I can put in the red, white, & blue bed that I still plan to make before spring.

The Salter are some of the most generous people I have met. They attend every spring meeting that Region 14 puts on and always donates lots of flowers for the auction, plus Jeff teaches the Garden Judges Clinic for us every year. We voted at our fall meeting to make both honorary members of our region. They also did the program this pass year at the spring meeting.

I have grown a lot of there flowers and all do well for us.

Doris what a great list of lilies. I was only able to make it for the meal and Jeffs presentation so all I saw was the auction list. My wife stayed behind as she is VP and acting treasurer. So I get home from my emergency call and she hands me this Huge bag of DL. I asked her to bid on 2 DL for me so I was very surprised. Then she explained to me what happened. It was like an early Christmas. I hate I missed Liz and her futures. The Salters have always been great to us. I hope we continue the tradition of having them for our holiday meeting.
Nicole DeVito will be there Feb 16th. Cant wait.

This is our first time being there for the Christmas meeting. We have been going to the Hybridizers' Summit in Chattanooga which is the same day, but there was not one this year. I agree that we'd like to see the Salters continue being at the December meeting, too. Tomorrow I will pot up the daylilies that we brought home. We put the roots in water as soon as we got home Saturday. Too bad you were on call and could not be at the meeting for the duration. I wish I had a plate of Eula's food right now! We are looking forward to seeing Nicole in February. Better start now saving money!
