@clintbrown, Yes Ernie O'Byrne bought Onyx Odyssey seeds (Northwest Garden Nursery)
This is the darkest H. double strain. I trusted fresh seeds. Unfortunately, there are some growers that sell old seed. This is not germinate.

@doglover, I am glad that Hungary is a good idea.

Lovely, plants. I cut mine totally down to the ground that is in a perennial mixed bed. I just mow over the entire 70 foot length. They are putting up new growth and will be so pretty by Feb when they bloom. I have the plain Jane green and the Royal Heritage one. Does anyone swap them?

Thank you, I understand about the high postage and the long trip would be difficult also. I am sure you have wonderful plants to enjoy there.

So Laszlo Pine Knots is out of Hungary? Your plants are lovely
Teresa I was thinking about cutting my plants back too, they get almost a foot tall and they just fall over. They are looking good now its almost time to start blooming. They are the hardiest plants, all the Hostas died back there but they keep going strong. I wish I knew where I got them or what kind they are.

Pine Knots is located in Virginia. I always cut back the old growth so I can see and enjoy the blooms. Mine start blooming in late March most years.

I have some started, but will not know results for a while , Hellebore can take up to 3 to 4 years till they produce their first flower.

I did that one year. Lifted the self sown ones out of the flower bed. Most were a very dark black color.

I got some seedlings (well, now big plants, started about 2-3 years ago) and I saw a FLOWER on one of them.
Now,. when all is frozen.
It's a white one.
Didn't have the camera, but it WAS a flower Smiling

Yes, I think it is three years from seed to bloom. I got out in the open, and young stems are pots of foil. These are things Amalya bloom beautifully. I love them too.

Your lucky Julia the blacks are a favorite of mine. Most that have come up for me are red ones from the Lady series. I would also like a pure white, my Sparkling Diamond looks more like a Painted doubles with the pink spotting.
