Thread OP
Crofton, MD
I am adjusting the layout of my garden this winter, and will have to store my raspberry plants in 5 gallon buckets (when they go dormant) while I build their new raised beds . I want to have a couple backup plants in case I kill a couple of my current batch.

I am having a bit of trouble trying to propagate my plants from clippings. It looks like they all keep dying and the leaves are wilting and drying.

My system is as follows: I take a healthy looking stem, place about 3/4 nodes (leaves clipped off) in some fruiting and flowering potting soil, I make sure the soil has a healthy soaking before planting the cuttings, and then I have been keeping the soil moist (or trying to).

Anybody have any tips or advice on how to go about doing this?

I would appreciate any input. We are completely new to gardening and got a little carried away this year. We ended up having so much produce we started a farm stand for charity. We are sending all proceeds to Alex's Lemonade Stand (childhood cancer support). I hope next year we will be able to add some fruit to our stand, as we plan on doing this every year. Here is a link to the news story about us if anybody is interested.

What type of raspberry? Some root much better with tip rooting (like my black raspberries).

You won't kill them, they are like pest. I got a free plant and I finally got rid of them.
