Maybe a variety of Figs (Ficus carica) ? but I don't know which one. Here's a photo from our database of one with a similar looking leaf:

I don't think it's a fig. The stems seem too green and smooth-looking. Maybe Jatropha or Euphorbia? Something weird undoubtedly.

Jklyles1, are the leaves sandpapery feeling or smooth?

My first thought was Jatropha but I couldn't find any with leaves that quite match. The stem does resemble those of some Euphorbia and the leaves remind me a little of the Summer Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) that grows here in Florida but I thought I remembered the leaves being thin, whereas the leaves on the plant in Jklyles1's photo, the leaves look rather thick.

Jatropha was my thought.

Adenia was my other thought as I remembered one had palmate leaves but then I couldn't find it. The stem in photo #2 is the give away.
