I don't know the name of this flower and it seems to spread and lie low to the ground. I don't know if this is how this kind of flower behaves or not. I want to prop it up so it stands up straight. do you recommend that?

It is a Chrysanthemum.
Some have tiny flowers others are taller with enormous flowers.
Flowers can be simple or double.
Colours varied.
The leaves are very distinctive.

To answer your question Andy, yes, it's fine to prop it up. Stakes or forked branches could work, or those round wire supports available in gardening stores or websites. Yours looks like the flowers were too heavy for the stalks but it also needs watering. Those blooms are near the end; if you deadhead when they're done you might get more, but this late in the year not as many or as big, probably.

A good soak and a trim. Sometime you have to cut them back to control the flopping.

@pepper23 Thanks. I'll google to find out the right way to trim. Do I cut 2/3 off or 1/3 off and when should I do it? Now or wait until spring.
