why think e-bay for plants anyway. Even white flower Farm as good irises for an average gardener.

I agree with Lucy...with so many great sources for quality iris at reasonable prices why EBay?

Because in the past you could get alot of iris for cheap prices. People saw a pretty picture bought no culture instructions planted too deep did not bloom what they bought and then NO MORE.

Many NEW gardeners go to ebay for the deals, not the quality.

'deals' don't always secure good plants of any type & put people out of business.

Originally, I went to Ebay because I was only aware of Schreiner's to order from. And I saw Irises on Ebay that Schreiner's didn't have. Turned out Ebay didn't *have* 'em either. Thumbs down But I didn't know that, at the time.

I know when I first decided to get into iris's without knowing where else to go to I tried out a couple sellers on ebay. Needless to say none of those are still around anymore (the iris's) but I did take away valuable lessons such as what has already been discussed here. I no longer do much for business there unless I know very well who it is I may be dealing with. Even on one of the gardening trade groups through F/Book I have a list made up of reputable business's to try to steer people away from getting hoaxed through ebay purchases.

There are a few honest and great ebay sellers. Not many in my opinion any more.

As I said between the things ebay has done to the sellers many left because now we must also pay commission on the shipping charges and I used to get it as close as I could to real.

Give example if you sell and iris for 5 dollars, shipping for 5 which equals 10 dollars, you pay .47 cents commission 25 to list, then if you let them pay with Paypal that is an additional .50 almost so out of the 5.00 you see maybe 3.00 now remember you must dig, label, clean, dry, pack and ship. Do you really think it is worth it?

Then as a seller you can not leave negetive feedback but the buyer can. Friend had one leave negetive feedback BEFORE she received anything and within 3 days of winning bid. You think this is fair?
