I have had my p. Micans for two years in the same place. It has grown like wild and is still growing like crazy.

I would occasionally notice a leaf turn red then would fall off. Today I realized that the lower leaves had quite a few red leaves that were dying off so I removed them.

The plant got long, and I think the long end pieces were crowding out the inner lower parts of the plant. So I removed all of the red leaves, cut a bit off the plant and pulled the ends up so it would climb and allow more light to penetrate the base of the plant.

Does this sound normal, or could there be another cause of the red leaf loss?

Its actually normal for climbing aroids to lose lower leaves as they climb. Every leaf has a finite lifespan. None of them will stay on a plant forever.

Thank you Gina! I feel like I haven't been spending as much time on my plants lately and had major plant panic today!

Its the same here, everything is in the greenhouse because we are riding the up and down winter temperature roller coaster....70 one day, 50 one day, low of 60 one night, 45 the next, up down up down its infuriating

Ugh our temps have been doing that too. 20 at night then up to 50-60 during the day. The somedays it's even warmer! The wood stove is on then off. No wonder my plants (and my skin) isn't happy!

Megan, that is an awesome micans! What a great way to grow it and use the skylight. Quite a conversation-starter, at least for plant addicts! Thumbs up

Thank you! As a follow up, I repotted this and fertilize it regularly now. The leaves are larger than my hand, it's a massive piece.
