A gringo?Where?(does a doubletake)
Hello Arif,
Yes. The new soil seems to have helped. The spots have nearly fully turned green now, though the plant is not completely recovered. This same plant put out an inflorescence which I collected pollen from this morning. I will be pollinating the other plant I have of this species in order to acquire true seed of this species. I do not want to hybridize until I have a good stock going.

Edit: Thought you meant the green plant with the odd deficiency. The painters pallet is very healthy, & seems to have self pollinated. Wouldn't that be interesting? The inflorescence is still on the plant, & the bottom half (where the female flowers are) is still green. Inside seems to be doing something, but I am not sure what yet.

Yaaa! We don't get Cladiums here, be on the look out for fancy new things. Go organic. like Janet was lecturing me and your plants will love you. Might take a year but these mute plants also have their own way of getting the message across. Thumbs up
Regards,
Arif.

Are all of these collected in the wild or are you buying them also?

Arif.

Hello everyone.
The Xanthosoma Antrivirens Variegata died due to a plant virus from the information I got about it. I found it in a roadside ditch.
The Calathea makoyana was purchased at the local plant store.
All the rest of my collection were either collected in the wild (some being collected in empty lots, roadside ditches, etc, & some collected in actual jungle) as noted in my other entries in my blog. Comfamiliar-Chilvi is close to the jungle, & the trip back from Ecuador is all jungle.
There will be new entries in my trip back from Ecuador soon as I upload the photos. I also took 2 hours of video of the trip which is basically boring roadside footage of jungle, but I am going to make it available on skydrive. I found 3 or 4 different plants that I have no idea about, a monster sized Philodendron verrucosum as well as an uncolored hairy petiole philodendron which I am sure is related to Philodendron verrucosum , but much of the structure is different. Photos to come soon.
