It is the one house plant that survives under my care. I just saw on this page that hummingbirds like them, but I am not sure mine has ever flowered in hummingbird season. Has yours? That would be a moment for the camera, for sure.

Chilly, as far north as you are, the blooms do usually happen while it's too cold outside for tropical plants. You could manipulate your plant to bloom earlier/later by controlling the hours of daylight, if you have that kind of memory, discipline, and available closet, room, or box.

Kim, my plant stays on my screened porch year round and blooms mainly during the months of November and December which is not hummingbird season here either.
