I found this growing wild. It came from a vine. It smells sweet like a cantaloupe. It taste sweet like a melon. The leaves resemble something between poke salad and a thistle. I live in central Louisiana. I found these growing in a semi wetland area during December. It has a smooth yellowish skin with many seeds.

Welcome!

You do know the question "toxic or edible" becomes a moot point AFTER you've already tasted it.

It sounds (and looks) like a wild cucumber but we really need to see the whole plant before making that statement.

Fairly certain they are the wild form of Cucumis melo (Cantaloupe). I see them growing here in South East Texas on occasion.
