I found this growing wild. It came from a vine. It smells sweet like a cantaloupe. It taste sweet like a melon. The leaves resemble something between poke salad and a thistle. I live in central Louisiana. I found these growing in a semi wetland area during December. It has a smooth yellowish skin with many seeds.

You do know the question "toxic or edible" becomes a moot point AFTER you've already tasted it.
It sounds (and looks) like a wild cucumber but we really need to see the whole plant before making that statement.
