What's causing this on my Rhipsalis?

These chunks keep disappearing out of my rhipsalis.
It's indoors hanging in an east facing window and parts of it keep sort of drying and disappearing but it doesn't seem to be bugs as I can't see any and there's no wind as the window is never open.

Definitely looks like someone's munching on it. Is there a snail or slug hiding in there somewhere maybe?

It's likely chewed by some worms which may hide in the soil or the stems. They will become moths and may lay eggs if not eliminated.
It happened to me. After I watered the soil with Safer's insect soap, the worms emerged to the surface.
