Those are beautiful Oscar! I had no idea they were available in such a range of colours or that the bloom so late. Are they best spring planted?

Beautiful hellebores, I was thinking of getting them last year, now I will get them for sure. I have a shady area for them.

I've tried hellebores in CO, all except 1 died and that last one has not flowered—just foliage to tease me! Far to dry here in my CO garden, unfortunately. Yours are beautiful, Oscar! The colors are gorgeous and they are such a welcome sight at such a dreary time of the year. So the white is blooming now and others have buds? So more flowers to look forward to over the next weeks? Lovely!
Not a sign of spring but my luck lately in our CO winter—emergency furnace service and a replacement part set me back $800 this week! Sucks but at least they're all working well now and better to know before we put the house up for sale. Still gonna order at least 2 of those roots I wanted to add to my Solaris order—probably all 4. What the heck....just a few overtime shifts!

I didn't know they are hard to grow, I'm thinking of adding some in the shade.

I don't think they are particularly hard to grow, SoCal. CO seems to be making its way back to drought conditions with really dry summers and winters, not much grows well in those conditions. I'll probably dig up that one remaining plant if it survives this winter and reward it by planting it somewhere not bone dry!

Thanks Liz, I just ordered 3 plants, I will try to grow them. California is dry too. I'm still waiting for a big rain of the season. But I'm eager to have something in the winter, right now I have a few roses, nothing else.

Hellebores are related to peonies. One of the big box stores was clearancing them before Christmas...I got one to see how they do.

I love seeing any flowers in winter! Hopeful signs...flowers...Put them up!

SoCal, if you can find them, try a couple of the Gold series hellebores. They start blooming in November for me. Josef Lemper is the earliest.

I checked and I definitely have a bud for Pink Hawaiian Coral, not so sure about High Adventure. I might move all of my early peonies to the front next year. They seem to bud early.

It looks like Hilary is budding here. I got this Itoh for $20 from Holland Bulb farms, I think I moved it last year too.

It's 75 degree here, a lot of peonies are coming up. I think this is unusual weather, next week it will be colder. I hope it won't damage my newly emerged buds.

SoCal, if it's getting colder next week I'd cover your emerging eyes with leaves or pine straw, any kind of mulch to insulate them if it gets down to freezing or lower. Anything above that shouldn't damage anything.

It's bone dry here due to Santa Ana wind, that's why it's hot. I'm hoping for rain soon, maybe next week.
