Thread OP
Sydney, NSW, Australia
I have no idea what plant this is, assuming its some kind of fern, I have tried plant Id apps but all of them have given different answers and none of them seem to fit the criteria. I live in NSW, Australia but the plant could be from anywhere. If you manage to identify it that would be nice because at the moment I don't really know what to do with it, it doesn't grow out of traditional soil which makes it harder to just "water it when the soil is dry".
Help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a type of bird's nest fern, Asplenium. I would imagine one of the more tender ones.

How does one take care of a plant that has no apparant soil? Do I do anything differently and how am I supposed to gauge when it needs watering?
EDIT: I've tried watering it but the water seems to just trickle of the edges of the rock rather than being absorbed by the plant

Asplenium nidus is an epiphytic fern. That means it grows in a tree, not in soil. Water it by pouring water over the whole plant and into the rosette. I imagine, on a rock, you will have to water daily. Keep water in the bowl under it to add humidity. Shade only, no sun.
