... on our vacation property in NW Pennsylvania. Many years ago, there used to be a couple of apple trees here (along with the daylily farm) but no longer.

I have just received a Miller Nurseries catalog, and you know how those winter "dreams" go. I had actually thought about this last year, and this catalog is just making me think on this harder. We have 4 acres (2 acres is an island in the middle of the river) so have plenty of property to plant on.

I would like semi dwarf, and these trees would for the most part be ignored, although there is usually family at the cottage most summer weekends,

Suggestions? thoughts? care required? The only thing I DO know is that I need 2 different varieties for cross pollination, so I am assuming whatever varieties I get will need to ripen about the same time. I am only thinking of 2-6 trees anyways, perhaps only a pair to start. And, this past year we closed the cottage in mid-October - so no late ripeners. I have never grown any type of fruit tree.

Thanks for any help and information. ~Jan
