As i said i got them as starter plants but i was badly mistaken on how long I've had them, it's been over a year SORRY
They were in very small pots when they were arrived.I can't for the life of me remember where i ordered them from???
I was told to let them get pot bound & then re-pot.I went up 1 pot size & they took off growing beautifully,i was surprised how fast they grew this summer.I kept them outside in partial sun.I was told to keep the soil damp & not let them dry out until well rooted, they are definitely well rooted.Inside now i let them dry out an inch down maybe but not go totally dry, then water & drain well.I gave more water in summer but did let them begin to dry after i re-potted them,they were kept just damp.Our summers are 3 digit temps,july & august are unbearable.Now they are in indirect sun,except for this past month it's done nothing but rain here. I am not feeding now,but i was over the summer and this happened then as well.Here's an example,it took some looking but this is a better look.
I seen this when it started and it started at the tip and i thought maybe i had jumped the gun cutting off the mushy/diseased part of the leaf,so i left it alone this isn't dried out,it's mushy,it dries with time.In a week it went from the tip to where you see it in this picture.The fact that it starts at the tip & keeps going down the leaf is why i stop it by cutting it off and then i put cinnamon on the wound on the healthy part of the leaf.This is something i watched my mom & grandmother do to seal up plants to prevent any kind of disease or fungus from getting into the wound.
This has happened to different plants,one is an oxy and the others my grandson took the labels out when i was unpacking them and i haven't ever found what he done with them.
I received them as just a package of different epi's so i didn't order specific ones.It's happened outside as well as inside,in summer & winter,i use distilled water there shouldn't be salts etc... to build up.It has me puzzled.
I do have some cuttings from Louise and there doing great!!
This picture is different the parent leaf is just dying back and i don't know if i should remove it.When it gets to the bottom of the leaf which it being the parent leaf will it kill the plant if i don't remove it??
I wish i hadn't let the leaf on that particular plant(in the first picture) go so far because it took more than half the leaf.the others i removed as soon as i noticed it are very healthy.
Thanks for all the advice!! If anyone has any advice about the care for these plants now that they are older i would appreciate it.
This is the most recent picture of my oxy. i have.The long stem is almost 4ft tall, maybe it is or more by now!!
yea right it's stand tall & strong.When the plant gets bigger i hope it will go on a trellis as well as the rest of my epi's. All the ones i see in HB's are lopsided & i've seen some on trellis's that look better.I have been using trellis's more often because i'm out of room for HB's.
