I really loved those yellow flowers last year. They did come back much later but not as nice as they were early on.

Maybe next year Whistling

All of the larger ones that are ready to bloom. But they like sun. Green Grin!

Look through this list of shade tolerant plants. You'll have to look up height and foliage type, but there are sure a lot of plants there to choose something tall. Thumbs up

I have many different types Jo Ann. From teeny tiny to very large, webbing, velvety or smooth. Many different colors also.
All would do well in your zone 6a, all the way down to zone 4, some maybe even colder with snow cover. They are alpine plants by origin.

Here are some that have webbing, depending on the time of year and growing conditions.
Use this link and check mark the box for webbing. http://garden.org/plants/group...

Jo Ann .. am liking the coleus more and more. They seem to be heat tolerant and they get some nice height.

I looked at the painted fern but an article came up on the random posts in which Sharon said they are not heat tolerant.

And so the search goes on. Thanks to all the suggestions.

Look at this one, the foliage is awesome. Might even make it through your winter if mulched heavily. Heavenly Bamboo (Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream')

Isn't it a beauty Arif. I love it also. How many plants can you grow in a container that will give that kind of year round interest?

Marilyn, use this link and read more about Nandina domestica 'Gulf Stream' Lovey dubby

I would grow them in soil with red euphorbia, maybe something with white foliage(Syngonium) and with with something variegated, Turks head hibiscus to draw the eye. What else can I put in this clump, let me think. Cannas I have, green and variegated needs the red though. Ideas in progress. You all don't let me think one thing through before shifting me to some thing new. Like a chicken with its head cut off Crying .

I have a plan but Lynn you cannot plan in one day with plants can you? It is more like, slowly slowly catch a monkey. I shifted into this house only three years back and have the required plants in containers. I planted the red euphorbia first, does not need much water but changes the micro climate. Then six months latter the Turks head. Cannas were put down a year latter when I had the required protection for them. This year the Philodendrons will go into the soil as I now have the micro climate required Hurray! under them will be the Ferns and the wild collected Sedums. Come to think of it, these Semps if I succeed will go there also.
Got another evil plan, I think I will put some Philodendrons in hanging baskets and put them high up in trees. Let them do what they do best. It is evil because I know others will be scratching their heads Hilarious! . They have no concept of Epi's even though Figs keep popping up on structures.
Regards,
Arif.
