Kalanchoe delagoensis

Also called 'Chandelier Plant' and 'Mother of Millions', ....I only started to appreciate this amazing succulent after Baja Costero brought it to my attention a while back.
We already had a colony in a small space in poor soil,
in our backyard, and I had ignored them until I saw Baja's post.
They are completely self-sowing, and take absolutely no care, but put on a beautiful show each January here.
Thanks, Baja! 😊

Thanks everyone! Smiling

They just finished blooming last week, and new plants are already
coming up to replace them. All I do is water them. Big Grin

Here are some pics I took over the month they were in bloom.

I feel pretty proud that I was able to ID the genus based on that slice of an image. Smiling

Nice colorful slice! One thing I like about this flower is the way the calyx is like a little purple flower in its own right.

It's too late now, but tomorrow I'll take some pics of the plantlets, and the
next generation of baby plants that are already growing.
They really are inconspicuous, and I don't think about them till they're
almost ready to bloom again.

They just "do their thing". Smiling

Wonderful banner, Cal. Although I'm no where near as experienced as you and Baja and others on this site at recognizing xeric plants, I did manage to peg this as a kalanchoe from just the banner. Once seen in bloom, never forgotten, I'd say.
I thought I'd share a photo of one of my first sightings (2009) of this kind of kalanchoe ("chandelier" type blooms). I don't know the species. I don't think the plant was labeled. I loved the soft mauve colored foliage, as well as the blooms. Lucky you to have a patch of it that thrives as you let it do its thing.

Thanks for the link to other photos of your plants. Were those oranges in the background of some of the shots?

That's not the same as ours, but similar bloom.
That one is short & clumpy (I like clumps), and ours is 3ft tall.

Thanks, slowcala. Smiling
They can be invasive I guess, but ours are contained, with only a few strays.
Even if they get into a place you don't want them, no problem to remove.

Plantlets (is that the proper term?) form along the edge of mature leaves,
drop off, and start in place without any encouragement by me.

Here are some extra pics of the babies, including 2 reflections of the
chandeliers in the pond, and the little fly catcher who watched me
as I took pictures. Smiling

Oh! These are one of those plants that form babies on the leaf edges. I've seen these before--I think as a houseplant.

Do yours do that, Cal?
