well then, I can be positively parsimonious too Hilarious!

That's why I don't hang out at the daylily forum. Too rich for my blood. Although I did see one that tempted me two years ago.

It has come down in price from 2 years ago. I think it was $350 for a single fan. It is now down $100 for a single fan. I love, love, love this daylily. Lovey dubby

Dirt,

Occasionally, daffodil introductions will be pricy. Here's a lovely one from Esker Farms: one bulb for only 80£ or approximately $110.

No, I didn't buy it.

Wow! I can't imagine spending that much on any plant except those that are 100 years old. Maybe the people who buy the daylilies wait for them to multiply, sell them and get their money back.

I'm not ordering this year. I ordered a bunch last year and I need to watch and see what survives and what doesn't because my quarter acre is pretty much as filled with irises as I want it to be.

But I did add a few from the Mid-America catalog to my wish list, namely Strike a Chord, Do the Fandango, and some older ones that I have been admiring. I just want to make sure that I have room enough for the existing ones to make nice clumps. I choose my iris in large part based on how they look en masse. So I want to give them a chance to make those beautiful masses.

That's a fun-looking daylily, with a great name! Hilarious!

I agree that the prices for new intro daylilies are a bit rich for me, but I also thought a few years ago that I'd never pay for a new iris intro---yet I've given in to the temptation the last couple of years *Blush*

I'd like to blame (oops, thank!) the enablers on this forum! Hilarious!

Ok, well for $50 for an intro you might see it as helping to fund the Hybridizers future work. However, $1500 Daylilys sound more like you are helping fund their kids future by helping to send them to an Ivy League school. Wow, that's a lot of money!!!

And yes Dirt, me too I'm all ears! This should be fun!!!

It's been a rough week with some long hours for me and I'm too tired to make much sense as is tonight--but here's one for ya: $300 for a rock! Yes, that's right. I live in the land of rocks, no need to purchase a really cool rock from Montana (and a bunch of his matching rock friends Hilarious! ) except, apparently there was because I did. Had to have it. And we won't talk about the 10 wheeler delivery and backhoe fees involved. D'Oh!

I completely understand the rocks. There's $500 rock that I have been coveting.

When I was a kid, I had all of the rocks I cared to deal with picking them off the fields. I swore at the time I'd be happy never to see one again. Well, I live in a sandy area with no rocks what so ever. Now I wish I had a few of them, but refuse to pay for them. Glare

Rocks here galore. In the beginning of my gardening on this property, I did nothing but dig up rocks. Now, in the garden areas, there is hard clay soil, amended yearly, with few or no rocks.

The nice thing about neato rocks is that they rarely die, overgrow their space, need dividing, pruning, or tending of any kind, and they don't go dormant over the winter Hilarious!

I agree I agree

When we moved 3 years ago, I paid good money to have a truck move my rocks to my new garden.

...and yes, I consider that a rational and perfectly normal thing to do! Whistling
