Thread OP

Hey there,

I'm new - just signed up today. I've had cacti and succulents for a while now but getting into learning how to actually, properly care for them.

I've had this one for maybe a year. It's a transplant from a larger plant. I was wondering if anyone could help identify what type of cactus it is. The body is very thin/flat, and has very sharp spines. I was thinking it might be some sort of prickly pear?

Also wondering if the spots are anything to worry about? Pests or just maybe some scab? It's been like that for a while - both this one and the rest of the plant. It doesn't seem to affect it really.

Thanks!

It could be Opuntia monacantha.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

The white areas should not be there.

No, they shouldn't be there. Also, it needs more light.

I suspect brighter light and warmer conditions would probably take care of the white areas...
It is what it is!
