thanks, Stush- Just mentioned, to say there are cousins for whom a trunk is normal, so that seemed interesting.
Plant it and they will come.

Bill,
Mine bloom all the time and even got seeds from them. If that turns out to be a flower stock, then it is the first time ever in sanserieria history that that happened.

I had a rhizome root that kept up rooting my plant so I had to remove it and it was so long that I planted it up in another pot that left it half exposed. It is now forming it's own trunk but no rosette yet. It since turned all green.

Planted up the rosette back in it's own pot and is doing well.

There they are side by side. That rhizome grew a few more inches since.

@getalonglitt and @Stush2019, you guys, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Hilarious! I should hang a little bell from the top of it or something - it'd be nice to have a warning at the first sign of movement.

Hey, since I'm new here - should I add these pics to the plant database here? I had zero luck trying to find pictures of another one of these on the internet, so for anybody else in the same position in the future, I'd like to have the pics or this post be 'discoverable'. Thanks!

This is what I found. Hope it helps. There is a stalk. Aside from that, your plant looks so Jurassic! Lol.

I like Stush2019's plant photo! Haha!

Looks similar but in Teresa's plant, which makes it unique, is the fact that the center growing point became the growing rhizome and not from the side or root zone. Producing unformed or under formed leaves along the stock. This will lead up to a new growing point with a rosette of leaves. Usually the growing point will produce a flowering stock which will end the growing cycle of this plant and will eventually die back to ground level. But with this new stock taking over, it is interesting to see what develops here.
Please keep us informed on future outcomes of this special plant.

@ tersmith2,
I agree, can you give us an update?

Tiffany, Mine is just the same large greener above ground rhizome but it did produce a pup on the side that is doing well.

Is there an update on what happened to your snake plant? I rescued my first from a Buy Nothing group, and it is doing the exact same thing. I've been searching the internet for information on what is happening and what I should do, but no one has had a clue!

When mine get fully overgrown/over crowed in their pots, I see this happen. I have an Agave plant that does this also with rhizomes above ground stretching over 12 inches. Plants' way of spreading away from the mother plant.

Similar situation but looks a bit different. Was told it's stacking. Now tilting as its gotten heavier and heavier over time. Each new layer seems to have small roots at it's base.

Would this also be stacking? Could I separate them at what looks like the "bases" of this? I inherited this plant and am unsure on supporting it besides tying it all up.

Hi & welcome! Yes that looks like stacking. You could cut those just above the soil line and stick them in a pot. New roots will grow, theoretically. There are no guarantees for every attempt.

Your plant has an appearance that suggests it has been in a very dim spot for a long time. The normal habit is for the leaves to go straight up. The spot by the window should be good. You can also cut off the dangling leaves and use those to make new plants.
