I Will Plant Veggies with Roses

By Sharon

I have a plan that will make a huge difference in my future gardens. It's simple really; I'm going to plant vegetables among my flowers and let them argue or fight or become friends. It isn't a new plan, it's one Aunt Bett and I hatched a long time ago.

And KY Woods, the plant Lynn mentions: Senecio jacobaea, doesn't grow in KY according to the USDA Chart,

Maybe you don't have to worry too much about your neighbors' horses, seems like they might not eat our tansy much anyway.

I didn't realize there were two different plants going by the common name of tansy, until I looked it up.

The first thing I noticed when I looked at the ragwort plant is the difference in the blooms. Ours is commonly called the Button Plant, or Bitter Buttons or Golden Buttons. It never really looses that 'button' look, never fully flushes out into petals. The foliage also is gorgeous, very lacy and frilly. It grows about 3 feet tall and must be staked. Stinks, though, when it's broken or when you run your fingers through it, but that's what keeps all the pests away.

Blinking Are you sure? See one of the drugs in use is Conium. Conium is Hemlock. Who will try Hemlock in succus/extract form? Another is Lachesis venom of Lachesis muta, wonderful creature but please don't try it in succus/extract form. Just two examples.

The horses wouldn't have access to our garden, but I wouldn't want the seeds carried over there. I could just deadhead it before it seeds. I would love to keep the kitties out of the pots!
